MTR Multigrain Dosa is stupendously easy to make. Now no more soaking the ingredients, no more grinding the ingredients and no more fermenting the ingredients. You have instantly saved the work of 24 hrs in just 5-7 minutes.

My husband is a big time fan of Dosa and he can eat dosa at the drop of the hat, like anywhere and anytime. I do not venture into making Dosa from the scratch much often as he would like me to, since it is a time consuming process and needs planning. I hate planning so much in advance to make food. When MTR requested me to feature the Multigrain Dosa from their Instant Breakfast Mix line, I was very excited. It not only gave me a chance to try a new product but also a hope of making Dosa more often and more healthy.

It was such an easy journey to make dosa from beginning to end. I snipped open the packet. Measured 1 cup of the Dosa mix in a bowl and added 1 cup water and ½ cup curd/yogurt to form a batter. Set the batter aside for 5 minutes to rise. Greased a hot tawa/griddle and spread a thin layer of dosa batter on it in circular motion. Applied 1 tbsp ghee to the sides and roasted it till golden brown at the bottom. I served it hot with Sambhar and MTR Spiced Chutney made with MTR spiced chutney powder.

The result was AMAZING. I had a content and happy husband, chomping happily on the dosa on the other side of the table. The smile on his face was priceless. 🙂 My kids joined later for the Dosa and finished their dosas happily.

It was the best Sunday Breakfast ever. Now I can say to Dosa – Bring it on! I am not scared of grilling you on my griddle. A saga of 24 hrs is reduced to a game of 5-7 minutes. I was screaming with joy after the accomplishment – Sunday Ho Toh Aisa!!

If you ask me what is paniyaram? Paniyaram are small rounds (savory or sweet), that are steamed and cooked in a special pan called Appe Pan or Paniyaram Pan. This pan is round in shape with do-nut like holes. The fermented batter is poured in the greased appe holes and steamed (covered) till done at the bottom. They are then flipped delicately to be cooked from other side. They come out soft and fluffy and often served as an appetizer or dessert. The most common sweet paniyaram are made with bananas. The savory ones are often made with fermented batter of idli or dosa. Their super soft pillowy texture and steamed characteristic makes them the perfect snack for a healthy and fit lifestyle.

This is how I made it!

A light and nutrient rich snack made with steamed multi-grain flour and mix vegetables.
Ingredients
  • Oil – 2 tsp
  • MTR Mutligrain Dosa Mix – ½ cup
  • Curd / Yogurt – ½ cup
  • Ginger – 1 small piece, grated
  • Green Chili – 1 small. Chopped fine
  • Carrots – 2 tsp, grated fine
  • Red Onions – 2 tsp grated fine
  • Coriander / Cilantro leaves – 2 tsp, chopped fine
Instructions
  1. Note - {Refer to the pictogram as given below, for more details}
  2. Take a bowl and add the MTR multigrain Dosa Mix + Curd/Yogurt to it. Mix well and make sure that there are no lumps in it. Set aside for 5 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile grease the Appe / Paniyaram Pan with good amount of oil and heat the pan on medium high heat.
  4. After 5 minutes of keeping the dosa batter aside, add all the finely chopped vegetables to it and stir in gently.
  5. Now pour 2 tsp of MTR Multigrain Dosa Mix to each Appe pan hole. Lower the heat to medium low. Cover with lid and let cook for about 3-4 minutes till they are slightly golden at the bottom.
  6. Remove the lid/cover. With the help of a pointed wooden spatula, turn the paniyaram gently to the other side and let cook for about another 3-5 minutes on medium heat till they are slightly golden.
  7. Take them out and serve them hot with MTR Spicy Chutney or the Chutney of your choice.
