Instructions

ALWAYS READ THE COMPLETE RECIPE BEFORE STARTING. GATHER INGREDIENTS. ALSO ALWAYS READ THE NOTES FOR MORE OPTIONS AND TIPS.

    PREPARING THE CAULIFLOWER

    • First of all wash the cauliflower in a Kitchen Colander and dry completely. Now core the cauliflower. Remove the hard stem and leaves from the bottom. Further cut it into medium bite size florets. Set them aside in a bowl.

    BREADING CAULIFLOWER FOR AIR-FRYING

    • Pre-heat the air fryer for 5 minutes. Meanwhile Take a Mixing Bowl and beat the egg with 2 tbsp water lightly. In another Mixing Bowl, mix Almond FlourGarlic PowderPaprika, salt & pepper.
    • Now dip florets with Kitchen Tongs (one at a time) into egg mixture and then coat in the almond flour mix. Note – be careful while coating in almond flour since almond flour tends to clump fast. If you are using All Purpose flour then roll these in the APF mix.
    • Now transfer these coated florets on a clean plate. And line the basket of Air fryer with the Air fryer Parchment Paper.
    • When ready to air fry, transfer these coated cauliflower florets in a single layer in the air fryer basket lined with parchment paper. Spray with oil on top.
    • Air fry at 390*F for 12 minutes. Flip in between at about 7-8 minutes for even cooking.

    MAKING ASIAN SAUCE

    • Meanwhile the cauliflower is air-frying, prepare the sauce.
    • Take a mixing bowl and add Ginger, Garlic, Soy SauceSriracha, Monk-fruit sweetener, Corn Starch and 1 cup water to it. Whisk it well to combine ingredients.
    • Take a heavy bottom Sauce Pan and gently heat Sesame Oil in it. Do not make it super hot.
    • Now add whisked Asian sauce to the pan and start simmering the sauce. Bring it to a gentle simmer and switch off the heat. Add Salt if needed. Also adjust the heat or the sweetness of the sauce to your personal liking. It will thicken as it sits.

DIPPING THE AIR-FRIED CAULIFLOWER BITES IN ASIAN SAUCE & AIR FRYING AGA

    • Once the cauliflower wings are cooked, toss them in the Asian sauce and place back in the air fryer. Air fry for 2-3 minutes more for the sauce to cook on top of it. It adds to the texture of the wings.
    • Serve with toasted sesame seeds and finely chopped scallions on the top.

TIPS FOR AIR FRYER BUFFALO CAULIFLOWER WINGS

    1. Make sure not to over-crowd the air fryer basket. If you crowd it, the cauliflower bites will turn out soggy. This is why you want to cook the cauliflower in small batches with space in between for even air-flow.
    2. Every air fryer model is different. The time can vary by 1-2 minutes depending upon the model.

CAN I USE STORE BOUGHT ASIAN SAUCE FOR THIS RECIPE?

Yes. You can use General Tso's or Teriyaki sauce for dipping and coating from the market.

CAN I MAKE CAULIFLOWER WINGS IN THE OVEN?

Yes you can. Bake these in the oven at 450*F for 15-20 minutes. Flip in between for even cooking. Dip in Asian Sauce and broil for 1-2 minutes. Serve hot with topped with sesame seeds and sliced scallions.

CAN I MAKE THESE IN ADVANCE?

Yes you can make all the preparations to make these cauliflower wings when ready to eat. Keep the egg bath and flour mix ready in separate boxes and refrigerate till ready to use. Make the Asian Sauce in advance and set aside. When ready to air-fry, dip in egg bath, roll in the flour mix and air fry as suggested in the recipe. Heat the Asian sauce for dipping and air fry again. Asian Sauce thickens as it sits so either dilute and whisk and re-heat it. Or make it fresh. It doesn't take more than 2 minutes to put together.

What can I use in place of home-made Asian Sauce?

If you do not want to cook Asian Sauce at home, then you can use any bottled market bought Asian sauce like General Tso's, Teriyaki etc.

    HOW TO STORE THE LEFTOVERS?

Although I doubt that there will be any leftovers, but you can keep the leftovers refrigerated for 1-2 days. Store in air-tight container.

    CAN I MAKE THESE VEGAN?

Yes you can. For vegan option, skip the egg bath. Instead you can use flax seed powder mix. Dissolve 3 tbsp flax seed meal in 2 tbsp water. Set aside for 2-3 minutes. Mix well and use it as a vegan egg bath.
Or you can make a thick paste out of almond flour mix with water or yogurt. Dip and air fry.

WHAT CAN I USE IN PLACE OF ALMOND FLOUR?

You can use all purpose flour to replace almond flour. But that will not be Low carb then. In case you want to still keep it low carb and use a substitute, then you can use coconut flour instead.
