Easy Air Fryer Baked Potato Recipe
These Air fryer baked potatoes are so good and easy to make. COmplete meal or a dinner side, always delicious and comforting.

- 3 large Russet Potatoes see notes for more options
- 1-2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tsp Himalayan Pink Salt or to taste
GARNISH OR TOPPING
- Butter you may skip it but makes potatoes yum
- Sour Cream or use thick greek yogurt
- Chives finely chopped
- Bell peppers finely chopped
- Salt & pepper as needed
- Buffalo Sauce or Hot Sauce as needed, optional
Clean the Russet Potatoes
Prepare the Potatoes for Air Frying
Air Fry the Potatoes
Now place these potatoes in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 1bout 50-70 minutes till they are done. Flip it 1-2 times in between for even cooking.
To check the doneness, insert a sharp knife in the center of the potato. If it goes through the potato smoothly, the potato is fully baked. If not, then cook for few more minutes till done.
Once these are air fried, take these out. And make a slit at the top of the baked potato to let the steam escape. Take a fork or spoon and fluff it up a bit in the middle. Add butter to the hot steaming opening of the potato.
Different models and size of the air fryer may have different cooking time, This is no rocket science. Simply air fry at 400*F till cooked. Check out the notes for the timings of the different sizes of the potatoes.
Garnish or Top the Baked Potatoes
Now Garnish your hot potatoes as per your choice. We topped ours with butter, salt & pepper, sour cream, finely chopped bell peppers, finely chopped chives and some dry parsley. It was soooo good. Check out the notes for more topping options.

OVEN BAKING INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven at 400*F. Bake in a baking sheet for 1&1/2 hr till tender soft in the middle.
PRO TIPS FOR THE BEST AIR FRYER BAKED POTATOES
- How do you know when it is done? – The potato is fully baked if a knife inserted into the center is easily pierced. Continue cooking them in the air fryer if they need more time.
- Scrub potatoes – Be sure to scrub the potatoes well and season well. This way you can eat the crispy skin of the potatoes too.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer. Place the potatoes away from each other.
- Reheat the potatoes by either cooking it in the air fryer at 400 until warm. Or use a microwave to heat these guys up.
- Make & Model of Air fryer - This can alter the timing. I have instant vortex airfryer and the timings are based on that.

WHAT ARE TIMES AND TEMPERATURES FOR DIFFERENT SIZE OF AIR FRYER BAKED POTATOES?
- Large Russet Potatoes can take anywhere from 1 hour to 1 hr 15 minutes.
- Medium Russet potatoes can take from 40 to 50 minutes.
- Small Russet Potatoes can take from 25-35 minutes.
WHAT OTHER KIND OF POTATOES CAN I USE IN THIS RECIPE?
Ideally Russet Potato is the best that gives you the perfect Baked Potato. Although you can use Yukon Gold potatoes too. Yukon Gold Potatoes cook faster than the Russet ones.
HOW TO STORE THE LEFTOVER BAKED POTATO?
I simply wrap up the leftovers in a foil and refrigerate.
HOW TO RE-HEAT THE REFRIGERATED BAKED POTATO?
You can heat it in the air fryer at 400*F till warm. Or simply microwave it for 2 minutes till warm.
