    Prepare GREEN BEANS

    • First wash the beans in colander and drain well. Then trim the ends of the Green Beans.

    Place Green Beans in Instant Pot

    Steaming Beans in IP

    • Place the lid on top of the IP and set the valve to SEALING. Press PRESSURE COOK mode and set it on HIGH for 0 (zero) minutes. Once the timer goes off, do a QPR. For tender beans, pressure cook these for 1 minute.

    How to Season Green Beans with Lemon and Garlic?

    • First of all,  drain the water from the inner pot and wipe it dry with paper towel or kitchen towel. Put it back inside the IP. 
    • Now press Saute on normal and once the screen displays HOT, add oil to it. After a few seconds, add garlic and saute for few seconds. 
    • Add Steamed Green Beans to the inner pot and saute for 1 minute. If the pot gets too hot & browns at the bottom, then add 1 tbsp of water and de-glaze.
    • Now add Salt & Pepper + lemon zest. Give a quick mix. Cancel Saute. Remove beans from the pot to a serving platter. Give a good squeeze of lemon juice and serve warm.

    Can I make these in a Pan on a gas top?

    • If you do not have Instant Pot, then you can prepare it in a pan on a gas top.
      Prepare the green beans as instructed in the main recipe. Heat oil in the pan and saute garlic in it. Add trimmed green beans to it. Saute for few minutes on medium heat. Cover and cook for 2 minutes. Switch off the heat. Add salt, pepper, lemon zest and lemon juice. Give it a good toss. It is ready.

    If you do not have the steamer basket, then you can steam 1/2 pound beans directly in Instant Pot in 1/2 cup water. For 1 pound green beans, use 1 cup water to steam. Follow the same timing and instructions.

    Can I make these in advance?

    Yes you can. And reheat in microwave before serving. Or you can keep them steamed before hand and season before serving. 

    Can I double the batch?
