Instructions

ALWAYS READ THE COMPLETE RECIPE BEFORE STARTING. GATHER INGREDIENTS. ALSO ALWAYS READ THE NOTES FOR MORE OPTIONS AND TIPS.

      Preparing fruits for the Cider

      • Apples, Oranges, & Cranberreis thoroughly in a Kitchen Colander. Now Peel and Core (remove the middles and seeds) the Apples. Qaurter them. You can opt for not peeling the apples if you want. I peel mine since I am not sure about all the chemicals from pesticides that stay on top even after washing.
      • Now Peel the Oranges and quarter these as well. Scrape the skin of the ginger and slice it.

      Cooking fruits in Instant Pot

      • Take the Inner Pot and add prepared apples, oranges, cranberries, ginger, Cinnamon & Cloves and SWEETNER of choice. Add 5 cups of water. Give a good stir.
      • Place Inner pot inside the Instant Pot and plug it in. Close the lid and lock it. Press the PRESSURE COOK button and set it on high for 20 minutes.
      • When the timer goes off, follow NPR (natural pressure release). Open the lid carefully. The fruits are well cooked and super soft now.

      Pureeing / Mashing Fruits

      • For this step, you can either use Hand held immersion blender or Potato Masher to mash/puree the fruit pulp. Mash it fine or puree it fine for the maximum benefits of the fiber in the cider. Taste check for sweetness and add more sweetner or sugar as needed.

      Straining and Storing

      Serve

      • You can drink it either cold or warm in mugs. My kids enjoy it both ways. When you want to drink it warm, then you can either heat it up on the gas top or in the microwave.

What kind of apples can I use for this recipe?

Galas, Gravensteins, Newtown Pippins, Rome Beauties and Winesaps are a few common varieties that add amazing nuances and depth to hard cider. I have used Gala and Grannysmith apples to create my cider.

What all can I make with the Apple Cider?

There is plenty that you can do with Apple Cider. You can use it to make -
      • Mimosas
      • Spiked Cider with Rum or Bourbon
      • Apple Cider Slushies
      • Popsicles
      • Long Island Iced Teas
      • Margaritas
      • Apple Cider Mules
      And so much more..

How long will home-made apple cider last?

Apple Cider can retain its taste and flavor for upto 2 weeks in refrigerator. After that it can start  fermenting and turn alcoholic a bit.

What is the difference between Apple Cider and Apple Juice?

Apple cider is made from apples that are washed, cut and ground into an "apple mash" similar to applesauce. ... On the other hand, apple juice undergoes filtration to remove pulp and is then pasteurized to extend the shelf life.

What are the ingredients of Home-made Apple Cider?

All you need are handful ingredients to make this recipe. The chances are that you already have these ingredients at home. Now that will skip a trip to the grocery store.
Apples - You can take Red delicious apples, Gala Apples, Grannysmith Apples or a mix of 2 or 3 apples for this recipe. You can either remove the skin or keep the skin on. I peeled the skin off the apples and cored them. CORING the apples is necessary step.
Oranges - Oranges add citrus flavors and enhances the over all flavor of the Cider. Many folks use Lemons as well. It is your choice.
Ginger - Now Ginger is not a traditional ingredient. But I love using ginger in my recipes for its crisp flavor, medicinal properties. Therefore it is optional for you if you want to use it or not.
Cranberries - This is another Holiday Berry that is so popular during holiday season. Cranberries are rich in anti-oxidants as well. These add to the beneficial properties of the Cider.
Cinnamon & Cloves - I love using cinnamon and cloves in my cider. Both the spices fill the cider with warmth & intensity.
Sweetener - Now if you are ok, then you can skip the added sweetener or sugar to the cider. It is sweet enough if you are ok with natural sweetness. But if you want your cider to be sweeter, then go ahead and add the sweetener of your choice. My favorite sweetener is MONKFRUIT SWEETNER. You can use regular sugar, brown sugar, maple syrup, honey etc to sweeten it.
