My blogger buddy Ruchi of Foodfellas 4 you is my lost twin, I think. The difference is she eats and cooks everything and lip smacking delicious dishes keep coming out of her kitchen. So so creative and versatile. Her tag line is the world cuisine from an Indian perspective. If you visit her blog, you will find it true :). All the not so vegetarian bloggers need to check her out for the pure yumminess!
Today, I am sharing her Chhole or Chickpea Masala with you all. It’s a dry spice mix used in making the yummiest of chhole or chickpea curry.
Ingredients :
Anardana or dry pomegranate seeds : 1/2 cup
Coriander seeds : 1/4 cup
Dry red chillies : 1/4 cup
Cloves : 1 tsp
Bay leaf dried : 3
Black cardamom : 5
Cinnamon : 5 small pieces
Green cardamom : 3
Cumin seeds : 2 tbsp
Black pepper pods : 1/2 tbsp
Kasoori Methi : 1/4 cup
I added 2 tbsp of Amchur or Dry Mango powder also towards the end.
Method :
Dry roast the above ingredients and grind them together.
Store in an airtight container and use as needed.
Use as desired in your chickpea curry. Another Chhole or Chickpea curry is coming up soon!
Ciao,
Sonal
wonderful and very helpful. Please give details of Tandoori and curry spice mix. Will be grateful.
Rita, search for curry spice melange in my blog and you will get the recipe 🙂
There’s that kasoori methi again! I keep seeing it in recipes at the moment. At least I’ll be able to get the anardana powder next week – exciting!
You can skip the kasuri Methi and it will still be super awesome.
I am going to make this soon!
You will surely love it Sarani.
Thanks for the shout out Sonal! I really appreciate! Love the way we both inspire each other to create healthy innovative food! 🙂
Hugs Ruchi! I wish we lived closer :).
Bookmarking it! We usually put a combination of random spices so good to have this on hand. :p
:).
Fabulous, thank you 🙂 I’ll be putting this together very soon!! Can you give me ideas for using it please?
Elaine, mostly chickpea curry is made with this spice mix. I sometimes use it in making mix veg, marinades, rice preps!
Cool, thank you 🙂
Thank you so much for this recipe. I love making my own masalas and this one is very welcome!
