Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • mixing bowl
  • Kitchen Colander
  • Measuring Spoons, Measuring Cups, Stirring Spoon,
  • mixing spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Green Peas, frozen thaw them completely before use
  • 1/2 tsp Olive Oil or 2 sprays of Olive Oil Spray for weight watchers
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

Instructions

Gather all the ingredients & equipment for the recipe. Always read the notes for tips & more information about the recipe.

    Prep the Green Peas

    • Measure the Green Peas. Thaw them completely in a Kitchen Colander at room temperature if you have time. Or microwave them to thaw quickly. Then spread them out on a kitchen towel or paper towel and pat them dry gently. Make sure that there is no moisture on the surface of the peas. Or else it will take a lot of time to crisp these up.

    Air Fry the Peas

    • Once these are dry, transfer these to a Mixing Bowl and add Olive Oil+ Salt + Garlic Powder to it. Mix well with a Mixing Spoon
    • Preheat the air fryer at 350*F for 5 minutes. Now transfer the peas to the basket of the air fryer and spread them out in a single layer.
    • Air fry these at 350*F for 10 minutes. Then give these a good shake. Spread again.
    • Reduce the temperature & set it now at 270*F and air fry for about 20 minutes till crispy. Now note this - the small petite peas will take about 20 minutes. Whereas the larger peas might take up to 30-35 minutes till they become crispy. Also the timing might vary depending upon the moisture retention inside the peas.
    • Texture Alert - Also do not expect a crunchy texture of the peas. When you will bite these in your mouth, these will be slightly crisp and chewy at the same time.
    • Your air-fryer Green Peas are ready.

What kind of Green Peas to use?

I have used frozen green peas for the recipe. You need to thaw the frozen peas before using them. Also make sure to
There are 2 kind of peas available - small petite and regular size peas. Small petite green peas will cook faster than the larger ones.
If you are using dried green peas, then blanch them first or hydrate them. Then dry out. And then air fry.

What is the texture of the air fryer peas?

I would be honest that the texture of these peas is not crispy or crunchy. It is more like dehydrated version. But excellent in its own way - chewy. Crispy from outside and chewy from inside. PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE NOT CRUNCHY.

How long can I store it?

This recipe is not for storage. Make them and eat them.

    Are these healthy?

Yes of course. These are protein and fiber rich. Also rich in vitamins & Iron.

Can I make this in oven?

Yes. Oven might give a better texture too. Bake at 350*F for about 40 minutes.

How can I use these air fried peas?

You can eat them as is for a healthy snack or top your salads. I topped my ramen noodles with these and the variety of texture was amazing. These add interesting texture to the dish - somewhat crunchy & somewhat chewy.
