Air fryer spaghetti squash is the best way ever to cook this delicious squash. Although it can be cooked in the oven, but Air fryer roasts the best spaghetti squash.

How to pick the right Spaghetti Squash for Cooking?

Here are a few pointers to make sure that you pick the right spaghetti squash from the market for cooking.

  • Foremost, select the squash that is not too big in size or else it won’t fit inside the air fryer. A squash weighing around 1&1/2 to 2 pounds is good for air fryer. My squash was about 1 lb 10 ounces. 
  • Further make sure that it is firm to touch and not mushy, bruised or have any spots.
  • The stem should be firm and dry too. 
  • Make sure that the color of the squash is bright yellow

What are the ingredients of Air Fryer Spaghetti Squash Recipe?

Above all Spaghetti Squash is the king ingredient.

Further few more ingredients make it more delicious. These are – 

Olive Oil  – Although I have used olive oil in the recipe, you may use Avocado Oil too.

Salt & Pepper – I love using Himalayan Pink Salt and freshy ground black pepper. But you may use regular table salt & pepper too.

Garlic Powder – I love using garlic powder in such recipes. It comes so handy. You may use minced garlic too.

Parsley – I use fresh parsley whenever possible. But you may use dry parsley flakes too.

Rosemary, Dry Chili Flakes, & Parmesan Cheese – Although these are optional, but add tons of taste and flavor to the cooked squash.

How to cook Spaghetti Squash in Air Fryer?

Air Frying Spaghetti Squash is a simple process. Refer to the pictures above for better understanding.

Prep Spaghetti Squash

  • Foremost it is important to wash and clean the spaghetti squash properly. 
  • Wash it under running water and then wipe it dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  • Now take a sharp knife and carefully cut the spaghetti squash from the center into 2 equal vertical halves. Try to cut them in 2 equal portions.
  • Further take a spoon and remove the seeds and the fiber from the middle of the squash. Clean it out properly.

Season Spaghetti Squash

  • Drizzle olive oil over both the halves and rub all over the top using hands or a pastry brush.
  • Further sprinkle the halves with salt & pepper, rosemary & garlic powder. You may mix all the spices together and then sprinkle.

Air Fry Spaghetti Squash

  • Now place the 2 halves inside the air fryer basket. And airfry at 360*F for 15-20 minutes till the top of the spaghetti squash is golden.
  • NOTE – The timing will differ depending upon how heavy and large your squash is. It will also vary depending upon the model of the air fryer. I use my Instant Pot Vortex Air Fryer for my recipes. 

Fluff & Garnish Spaghetti Squash

  • Take it out and settle it either on a chopping board or a bowl.
  • Further take a fork and fluff it gently separating the spaghetti style fiber of the squash.
  • Once the spaghetti is separated in the squash, season it further with red chili flakes, chopped parsley and parmesan cheese.
  • Eat it while still warm.

PRO -TIPS

  1. OVEN OPTION – If you do not have air fryer, then bake in the oven at 400*F for 35-40 minutes.
  2. STORAGE – You may refrigerate the leftovers in an air tight container up to 3-5 days.
  3. RE-HEAT – You may either reheat it in air fryer for 3-5 minutes or microwave for 1-2 minutes till warm to eat.
  4. FREEZE – I have not forzen it, but you may freeze it in freezer friendly container up to 3 months.
  5. PICKING THE RIGHT SPAGHETTI SQUASH is very important. 
  6. COOKING TIME will vary depending upon the size/weight of the squash. The model of the air fryer may dictate it too.
  7. OIL FREE OPTION – Skip the oil and drizzle it with some vegan/vegetable broth to keep it moist.
  8. OIL OPTION – You may use avocado oil or cooking spray instead of olive oil.
  9. YOU MAY PERSONALIZE & SEASON as per your choice. Sub the rice or pasta in a recipe with spaghetti squash. 
  10. VEGAN OPTION – If you skip the parmesan cheese from the garnish, then it a vegan recipe.
  11. GLUTENFREE – It is a completely gluten-free recipe.

It is so easy & quick to roast spaghetti squash in air fryer. A great healthy vegtarian meal option. You can personalize it. Substitute rice or pasta in any recipe with this for healthy option.
