Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts Recipe

Often children make a face when they are asked to eat their vegetables. Thankfully my kids do not belong to that category. Since they love the vegetables, I air fry vegetables often for them.

My girls love Air fryer Roasted Mixed Vegetables, Asparagus, Baby Potatoes and more.

This oh-so-simple recipe produces sweet, nutty, and tender bites of veggie goodness.

What is Brussels Sprouts?

Brussels Sprouts are these tiny mini cabbages that are packed with nutrition. These are hearty with a strong, nutty flavor. Enjoy them raw and shredded in a salad or roasted with a drizzle of olive oil.

Since they are low in carbs and high in protein and fiber, these are perfect to be included in your weekly menu.

One cup of boiled Brussels sprouts (156g) provides 56 calories, 4g of protein, 11g of carbohydrates, and 0.8g of fat. Brussels sprouts are an excellent source of fiber, vitamin C, and vitamin K.

Brussels Sprouts aid in healing, promotes immunity, supports strong bones, helps reduce risk of metabolic syndrome.

Tips for Cooking Brussels Sprouts in an Air Fryer

  • Make sure to cut Brussels sprouts into even-sized pieces. Brussels are dense vegetables. Therefore, cut them in uniform pieces to make sure they cook evenly.
  • Season the brussels well is important! A good amount of oil, salt and pepper does the trick.
  • Don’t overcrowd your Brussels sprouts. Layer the sprouts evenly in the air fryer basket.
  • Shaking the brussels in between is important’. Give the air fryer basket a little shake halfway through cooking to expose brussels that may have been covered up.
  • Every air fryer is different. You might have to increase your cooking time a bit to get them crispy and delicious!

What can I pair it with?

You can serve it on the side of any quinoa bowl. Although this is a good snack to eat as is, but you can serve it on the side of Fettuccine Alfredo or Creamy Pesto Pasta too.

How can I season the Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts?

There are plenty of ways to season these besides just salt and pepper.

Some of the best ways to season up your sprouts include:

  • Grated parmesan cheese
  • Crumbled feta cheese
  • Red chili flakes
  • Diced red onion
  • Slivered almonds
  • Dried cranberries
  • Squeeze of Lemon Juice
  • Garlic Powder
  • Ranch Seasoning
  • Balsamic Vinegar Drizzle
  • Honey drizzle

How to store the leftovers?

Store the leftovers in air tight container and refrigerate. I wouldn’t recommend freezing these since they might become mushy on re heating. Although if you are ok with that, then go ahead and freeze them for upto 4-5 months in freezer friendly bags.

How to Re-heat the refrigerated brussels?

Simply take these out and microwave for 2 minutes in microwave safe plate. Or you can re-heat these on gas top in a pan.
