Papdi Chaat Board Recipe

Undoubtedly, Dahi Papdi Chaat is the most loved Indian Street Food in my family. I make it often over the weekends or when I host get togethers. It is so easy to put together for your DIWALI PARTY.

I am going to suggest a few methods to create this –

  • First one, when you are planning to eat instantly where you are not waiting to be served and eat later. Mainly for the times when you make it for a snack for the family.
  • Second one, when you are planning to make it for the get togethers and dinners. Since this scenario takes more time between making it and eating it, my CHAAT BOARD recipe is going to be super handy. You can prep in advance and still it won’t be soggy.

What is Papdi Chaat?

It is a popular North Indian Street Food. Papdi is crispy fried wheat crackers which is topped with an assortment of ingredients. These ingredients add texture and flavors to the chaat. Some popular toppings are boiled potatoes, srouted mung or boiled chickpeas, yogurt, green and red chutneys plus few spices.

It is so addictive. People can not stop eating just a few.

  • Yogurt – Since we are talking about 2 prep methods here, then here are the suggestions. For quick consumption use regular yogurt slightly diluted and whipped. If you plan for CHAAT BOARD, then use Greek Yogurt or slightly hung yogurt with very less water content. As you know you can find yogurt at any grocery store. Use plain yogurt.
  • Boiled Potatoes
  • Beans – Although popularly boiled chickpeas are used in chaat recipes, I love using sprouted mung in my chaats. Sometimes people use boiled black chickpeas as well. It is your choice, I am using Sprouted Mung. Frequently I sprout mung at home or sometimes I buy it frozen from the Indian store. Just thaw and use. Super easy to use. Cut down your prep and use this tip of using frozen thawed mung beans.
  • Other Fresh Produce – Chopped Red Onions and Chopped Cilantro leaves
