Instructions

Prep Pizza Dough

  • You can use either home made Pizza Dough or Store Bought Pizza Dough. If you want to use home made pizza dough, then use this recipe or any recipe of your choice. Keep it ready at room temperature.

Make Vegetable Stuffing on Gas Top

  • Heat oil in a Heavy bottom pan. Now add garlic & onion to it and saute on medium heat for 2-3 minutes till onions are soft.
  • Add zucchini, bell peppers, Italian seasoning, Salt & Black Pepper. Give a good stir. Cook for 2 more minutes.
  • Further add spinach and cook till it wilts for about 1 minute. Take it off the gas. Set aside to cool at room temperature.
  • Once it cools down, take a Mixing Bowl. Add cheese, cooled stuffing, and marinara sauce to it. Mix well. The stuffing is ready.

Preparing the Calzones

  • Foremost, flour the working counter of the kitchen. Place the pizza dough and roll out the pizza dough with Rolling Pin. Roll it thin.
  • Now cut out 7-8 circles of 4 inches from that rolled out dough. You can use a 4 inches cookie cutter or a glass or anything circular to cut the circles out.
  • Further place these cut out pizza circles on parchment paper for ease of handling. Take 1 circle and place on floured surface. Roll it out further thin.
  • Now take 1-2 tbsp vegetable filling and place it on one side of the circle. Leave enough space at the edges to close the calzones tight.
  • Fold over the other half of the circle to make a half moon shape. Press it down tight with fingers. Further press the edges tight from all the sides with a Fork. Now take a pizza cutter and cut out the uneven edges and make it smooth. Watch the video.
  • Make 2 slits on top of the calzone with a knife. Place it on the parchment paper. Repeat the process with all the other circles.
  • Finally brush these calzones with some melted butter on top.

Air Frying the Calzones

  • First of all place the Air fryer parchment paper inside the air fryer. In case you do not have air fryer parchment paper, then spray the bottom of the basket with oil to avoid sticking.
  • Now add 2-3 calzones at a time inside the basket. Set the temperature to 350*F and timer to 8 minutes. Air fry.
  • Once done, remove these carefully and air fry the rest the same way.
  • The time may vary for different models. Keep an eye. It may take between 7-10 minutes to air fry these calzones.

I have not tried freezing these so can't answer that.

Yes you can. These will get done quicker than the ones mentioned in the recipe.

How do I store these?

Refrigerate the leftovers. Should stay good for a week.

Pre heat the air fryer. Now placed the refrigerated ones in the basket and re-heat them in the air fryer at 350*F for about 2-3 minutes or till warm.

What kind of Pizza dough can I use for this recipe?

You can use either Home-made Pizza dough or store bough dough. You can also purchase your dough from the local pizzeria. Many places will sell the dough happily when asked.
