Since it is rich in fiber, it is great for digestion, heart health & weight management.

Also since it has low glycemic index, the raw banana is perfect for Diabetics too. 

Therefore Air Frying these to make chips is a great healthy option instead of deep-frying. Although deep fried version is the more popular one.

  5.  My personal favorite is for sure salt & pepper with little turmeric and red chili powder.

Ingredients

UNRIPE GREEN RAW BANANAS are the main ingredient for the recipe. You can use Raw Plantain to replace banana too.

Salt & Pepper – Raw Banana, Salt, Black Pepper & Oil Spray

Are Plantain Chips and Banana Chips the same thing?

Yes and No. Although Plantains belong to the Banana family, they are still different. Bananas are sweeter and plantains are starchier.

Can I use raw plantain to replace raw banana in this recipe?

Yes you can use raw plantain for this recipe. It will be air fried plantain chips then.

Is Air fryer Banana Chips Recipe healthy?

Yes absolutely yes. First of all it is not deep fried as compared to the market bought ones. Secondly there is no preservative or additive. Also it is high in fiber and potassium. It definitely makes to the healthy snack. 

How to pick the right kind of banana or plantain for this recipe?

Make sure to pick the hard and green colored raw/unripe banana or plantain for this recipe for the perfect texture or taste.

How to make Healthy Plantain Chips or Banana Chips in Air Fryer?

This is a fairly easy recipe to make. 

First wash the Raw Bananas. Then Peel them. Since it is a tough thick peel, use sharp kitchen knife to peel it. Please be careful of not cutting your fingers. Use chopping board for support if needed.

Now take the mandoline/slicer and slice the bananas thin.

Take a bowl and add the raw banana slices to it. Spray the slices with a Butter or Oil Spray. You may use coconut oil too. Add some salt, Black Pepper, Turmeric Powder, Red Chili Powder/Cayenne Powder to it. Toss and Mix well. If you want to try some other seasoning, then add at this time and toss.

Now layer these in single layer inside the air fryer basket. Set the temperature to 350*F and air fry. In about 3-4 minutes, open the basket. the slices gather to a side as they cook since they are weightless. Rearrange them in layer. And Air fry further till edges are golden and center has no moist spot left. If the slices are thicker then you might have to check 2 times for rearranging and checking, since few slices might get done earlier. In that case, remove those first and air fry the rest.

Take them out and let cool to room temperature before storing in air-tight container.

NOTE – Here is the important thing about the thickness of the slices. You can make paper thin slices or slightly thicker slices. Don’t cut very thick slices or it will take ever to air fry. The time of their “done-ness” will depend upon their thickness. My slices were super thin like paper thin. They got done in a batch of 6-7 minutes each. Therefore these will range from 6 -15 minutes depending upon how thick the slices are. You have to make sure that these do not have any moist spot left on them before you take them out.

    • If the slices are slightly thicker then you might have to check 2 times for rearranging and checking, since few slices might get done earlier. In that case, remove those first and air fry the rest.
