GATHER ALL THE INGREDIENTS & KITCHEN GADGETS. LAY OUT YOUR WORKING STATION.
Remove the pastry from the packaging. Lay it out on a parchment paper.
Now cut the pastry into even squares of 5x5 inches with a sharp kitchen scissor. You may make even smaller squares if desired. You will probably have 6 squares of Puff Pastry to work with. Make sure to work on 1 pastry square at a time. Take a square and place on a separate parchment paper. Spread 2 tbsp apple pie filling in the center of the square, lengthwise. Leaving equal amount of pastry empty on both the sides.
Make 8-10 cuts on each side of the filling resembling 8-10 pastry arms on each side. These will be used to make a braid.
Now start braiding these arms on either side on top of the filling. (watch the video)Use the bottom 2 arms to seal. Press down gently. Use Pastry Brush and Brush gently with some butter (at room temperature).
Finish the other squares like-wise and set them aside on Parchment paper to avoid sticking.
Now place 3 at a time in the Air Fryer Basket laced with parchment paper. If you have a larger air fryer, you can air fry more or all at the same time. Air fry at 390*F till golden for about 10 minutes. Check at 8 minutes if done. If not, air fry for 2 more minutes. . Take out with a flat spatula carefully. Sprinkle with some sugar if desired. Let rest for few minutes on cooling rack to firm up the bottom of the pastry. DONE!
TIP : Since Puff Pastry is very delicate to work with, handle it gently. The best way is to work with it on a parchment paper to avoid sticking while braiding or transferring to the air-fryer

AIR FRYER LID INSTRUCTIONS
What kind of Pastry can I use for the recipe?
Puff Pastry is the ideal one to use for this recipe.
Most importantly, the Puff Pastry sheet that you are using should be at room temperature.
If the pastry is frozen, then either thaw it overnight in the refrigerator. Or thaw it at room temperature till ready to use.
I love using pastry sheets from refrigerated section of the store instead of the frozen. Makes life simpler.
You may use ready to bake Croissant sheet or Phyllo Sheet as well. Just make sure to use a flaky sheet to work with.
Can I make the Strudel in the Oven?
Strudels are baked in the oven. This is the air-fryer version. Therefore, you can certainly bake these in the oven.
How long do the Apple Strudels last?
You can keep it at room temperature for up to 2 days. Be sure to cover it loosely with foil or plastic wrap. Strudel will also keep for an additional 3 days in the refrigerator, covered. But make sure to consume at the earliest. Since it is a delicate pastry, it will loose the texture.
Can I freeze it?
I wouldn't suggest freezing the finished product. But in case you want to freeze it before air frying or baking it, then you may try that.
How to heat the Refrigerated Strudel?
Put it in the air fryer at 350*F and heat for 5-7 minutes or till warm enough. DO NOT MICROWAVE or else it will go soggy.
How do you eat Apple Strudel?
Cool for few minutes before eating. Serve plain or with ice cream.
How to glaze the Strudel?
Traditionally egg wash is used to give it the desired sheen, but melted/room temperature BUTTER can be used as well.
