I had a hunch how to go about it.

A quick and easy Paneer Jhalfrezi recipe
  • Oil : ½ tbsp + ½ tbsp + 1 tsp
  • Green chili - 1, chopped fine, optional
  • Ginger Garlic paste - ½ tsp
  • Paneer / Indian cottage cheese : 12 oz / 350 gms, cut into 1 inch squares.
  • Green Bell pepper / capsicum : 1 big, cut into 1 inch squares.
  • Onion : 1 big, cut into 1 inch squares.
  • Tomato, firm : 1 big, cut into 1 inch squares
  • Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  • Red Chili powder - ½ tsp
  • Garam Masala : ½ to 1 tsp as per taste
  • Kasuri Methi : 1 tsp, crushed
  • Salt to taste
  • Ketchup : 2 tbsp. Yes this is the secret ingredient :). I prefer organic though. You may use any that you have at home.
  • Water - ¼ cup
  1. Heat ½ tbsp oil in hard anodized or non stick pan.
  2. Add chopped onion and bell pepper pieces to the pan in the hot oil. Sauté them for 3 minutes on high flame. Stir constantly. Take these out and set aside.
  3. Now heat another ½ tbsp oil to the same pan. Add Paneer cubes and cook on high flame while tossing them and grilling them from all over, for 3 minutes. Tale these out and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add heat 1 tsp oil on medium heat. Add green chili, ginger garlic paste, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam Masala, and salt to the oi. Saute for few seconds till raw smell of ginger garlic is gone. Add Ketchup and water to the pan. Stir the spices, ketchup and water together. Cook on low heat for 1 minute.This is your quick jhalfrezi sauce.
  5. Toss the paneer, bell pepper and onion pieces in the quick jhalfrezi sauce for 1 minute.
  6. Add Tomato pieces and Stir well.
  7. Cook for other 2 minutes and switch off the gas.
  8. Your Quick Paneer Jhalfezi is ready in 10 minutes.
Serving Suggestion
  1. Serve with Naan, Roti, Parantha of your choice.
