Easy & Delicious Spinach Strawberry Salad Recipe

I am all about SALADS all round the year. Either it is winter or summer, a good delicious salad drenched in home made salad dressing and paired with quinoa is my favorite way to eat lunch.

My Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad with Home made Lemon Mustard Vinaigrette is the most addictive salad ever. Some of my other favorite Vegetarian Salads from the blog are – Cold Noodle Salad, Apple & Nuts Salad, Mediterranean Quinoa Salad, Greek Chickpeas Salad and more.

This Spinach Strawberry Salad is a great way to add a fresh element to any dinner table. And the best part is that it comes together in no time.

Why I love this Spinach Strawberry Salad Recipe?

  • So Easy to Put Together. All you need to do is prep the strawberries and put different ingredients together. Drench with Balsamic Vinaigrette and toss it well.
  • You can prepare it a bit in advance. Although spinach wilts faster, but you can prep this salad few hours before without the dressing. Refrigerate. When ready to serve, add the dressing and toss.
  • This salad is very adaptable. Although spinach and strawberry are 2 non negotiable ingredients of this recipe, but you can play with the rest of the ingredients.
  • Home made Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette is the key to the flavors of this salad. I often make this dressing at home and keep it handy for my salads. But you can completely use store bought vinaigrette. Honey adds ther desired sweetness to the salad balancing the flavors. So do add it if your balsamic vinaigrette does not have it.
  • This Spinach Salad makes an amazing light meal. I make it for my work lunches and pack the dressing separately. It is filling and yummy.
  • This Salad is perfect to take for any season.
  • Perfect as a refreshing vegetarian side to any meal.
What are the ingredients of Spinach Strawberry Salad?

What are the ingredients of Spinach Strawberry Salad?

This Salad needs just handful ingredients that are easily available.

  • Spinach – Although this salad is about spinach as a main hero, but I sometimes use a mix of spinach and arugula too. It is your choice. Either use spinach or a mix of 2 greens. Do not use lettuce for this recipe.
  • Strawberry – This salad requires fresh strawberries. Make sure to use ripe (not over ripe) and firm strawberries in the salad. I do add handful of blueberries to this salad for color and flavors. Now if you do not like strawberries or are allergic to it, then pears and apples will be great in this salad.
  • Pecans – I love using pecans in fruity salads. In case you do not have pecans, you can use walnuts as well.
  • Almonds – Sliced almonds are another of my favorite nuts to add to this salad. They add amazing crunch to it. You can skip it if you want.
  • Feta Cheese – I love how creamy feta cheese is. It adds amazing flavors to the salad. But you can totally substitute it with either goat cheese or blue cheese.
  • Quinoa – Now this is optional. I normally add quinoa to my salads to make a complete meal.
  • Chia seeds – Another optional ingredient but I love it. It adds nice crunch to the salad.
  • Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette – I love making it at home. It is so easy to make it. And the best part is that you can control the ingredients to your liking. You can use the store bought salad dressing as well. Recipe is given in the notes.

Spinach Strawberry Salad

Take a Salad Bowl and add spinach greens, chopped strawberries and/or blueberries, pecans, almond slivers, & feta cheese. Further add the Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette on top. Take salad tongs and mix the salad well. Refrigerate it for few hours before serving for best results. If it sits for a bit, it will absorb the flavors well and taste amazing.

Since quinoa is such a nourishing grain, I love adding cooked quinoa to my salads. Threfore if you are adding quinoa to the salads, then add it with all the other ingredients above and toss with the salad dressing.

Chia seeds add more nourishment and crunch to the salad. And I often add these to my salads as well. It is optional. If you want to add chia seeds then top the salad with these.

What to serve with this Strawberry Salad?

As the recipe is written, this salad is perfect for a bright side or starter, but here are a few ideas to make it a main dish-

Soups – I love making Cafe style combos where the food comes in Pick 2 of your choice. So I often pair them with soups to make a meal. Some of my favorite soups are – Barley Soup, Minestrone Soup, Tomato Bisque and more.

Dishes to pair it with – I love serving this salad with some AIR FRYER APPETIZERS to make it a complete meal. Some examples are – Puff Pastry Pizza, Puff Pastry Peas Patties, Savory Hand Pies, Bread Pizza, Garlic Bread and more.

Garlic Knots, Stuffed Dominos Bread, Pizza, focaccia are some more recipes to pair it with.

Add Pasta, Farro, Quinoa, Barley or some other grains to make this salad more wholesome.

Make Ahead and Storage Tips

  • To make ahead – Add the dressing to the salad shortly before serving. If you don’t plan to eat it all right away, dress only what you plan to eat right away.
  • How to Store? I suggest to serve the dressing on the side. so that it is easy to store undressed salad. Dressing can wilt the greens very quick. Now store the leftover, undressed salad in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Refrigerate any leftover dressing in an airtight container (a jar is perfect), then shake before serving.
