What are the Asian Garlic Noodles Ingredients?

Noodles

I used spaghetti for this. But I have used Fettuccine Noodles also and those work well too. Love the chewy texture of this noodle. You can use linguine if you like.

Cooking Oil

You can use any kind. Although Sesame oil is preferred.

Fresh Produce

Garlic Cloves, and bell peppers. You can go ahead and add whatever vegetables you like to make it more “healthy”.

Condiments

Soy Sauce

Sriracha or Sambel Olek

Vegetarian Hoisin Sauce– I keep a bottle of vegetarian Hoisin Sauce handy in my refrigerator all the time. It is easily available at whole foods. And may be at your local grocery store or Asian store. If you do not have it and want to make it right away, then Ketchup works so good too. Trust me.

Salt and Pepper

Water or Vegetable Broth

Garnish

Green Scallions and sesame seeds if you like

Kitchen Gadgets

Measuring Cups and Spoons

Chopping Board and Knife

Kitchen stirring spoon

Kitchen Colander

6 quart Instant Pot

Instant Pot Liner

What kind of Noodles can I use for this recipe?

I have used Spaghetti in this recipe. But you can totally use fettuccine or linguine for this recipe. I have tried this recipe with all 3 kinds of noodles and it doesn not disappoint with either of them.

What can I use in place of Vegetarian Hoisin Sauce?

In case you do not have vegetarian hoisin, use Ketchup instead. Believe me that sweet and tart taste of ketchup brings it together.

What kind of Vegetables can I use for this recipe?

Although this recipe does not need any vegetables, but you can personalize it with the vegetables.

I often use classic coleslaw that has finely shredded cabbage and carrots in it.

Broccoli, carrots, green beans, bell peppers are some vegetables that you can use in the recipe.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

Yes you can. Make it ahead of time and re-heat and use when ready to eat.

Can I half the recipe?

Yes you can make this recipe with 8 ounce noodles instead of 1 pound (16 ounce) noodles.

Does the time vary when I half or double the quantity?

The time will remain the same. Most of the long pasta/noodles take 10-12 minutes on gas top. Therefore for Instant pot cooking, we will half the time to 5 minutes and follow QPR (quick pressure release).

Can I make it on gas top?

This recipe can easily be made on gas -top. Boil the pasta separately and drain. Saute the garlic and add sauces followed by boiled pasta. Toss it all together.

If you are using any vegetables then you will add those after sauteeing the garlic. Finish with the garnish and serve hot.

How to re-heat the leftovers?

You can either microwave it with a spritz of water or re-heat on gas top in a large pan with little water.

What can I serve it with?

You can serve it with General Tso’s Vegan Meatballs, Hot & Sour Soup or Wonton Soup.

Tips and Tricks for making Instant Pot Garlic Noodles

When making garlic noodles at home, here are some tips and tricks to make it easy and delicious:

  • If you don’t have spaghetti on hand, you can use linguine, thin spaghetti noodles, angel hair pasta or any long pasta/noodle.
  • If you do not want to chop the garlic, then you could use pre chopped garlic found in most grocery stores or use a garlic press to easily mince the garlic.
  • You can easily Double the recipe or even half the recipe . The time will remain the same.
  • To add to the meal, you can top with stir-fried veggies like broccoli, baby corn, water chestnut, zucchini, bell peppers and mushrooms.

How to make Asian Garlic Noodles in Instant Pot?

I have tried making this recipe in 2 different ways and I am going to share both ways. You can pick and choose the one you want. But my favorite is definitely number 1 which is a 2 step recipe.

My favorite way to cook Garlic Noodles in Instant Pot recipe

  1. Place the Instant Pot Liner inside the 6 quart Instant Pot and plug it in.
  2. Break 1 lb spaghetti or fettuccine into halves. Add these to the inner pot in a matted order or fan order. Check this you-tube from my channel to watch how I place my noodles in the IP. Add 4 cups of water and Pressure cook on high followed by QPR. For this recipe you want al-dente noodles. My packet read 8-10 minutes on gas top. I cooked for 3 minutes followed by QPR which takes about 2 minutes. Therefore the noodles get about 5 minutes in cooking including the pressure release time.
  3. Drain the spaghetti and separate the noodles with a fork. Set aside. Wipe the bottom of the Inner Pot with Kitchen Towel. Put it back inside the instant pot.
  4. Press Saute and set on medium. When the screen displays HOT, add oil to it. After few seconds, add chopped garlic and saute for a 30-45 seconds till garlic brown nicely. Add bell peppers and saute further for 1 minute. Now add Soy Sauce, Vegetarian Hoisin Sauce-, Sriracha, Salt and Pepper. Give a good stir with a stirrer.
  5. Now add the cooked spaghetti (noodles of your choice) back to the pot. Add chopped scallions. Give it all a good toss using the tongs.
  6. Sprinkle sesame seeds and serve warm.

Another way of making this recipe as a One Pot Recipe

  1. Place the Instant Pot Liner inside the 6 quart Instant Pot and plug it in.
  3. Cancel Saute. Add the spaghetti to the pot on top of the sauces. Add 4 cups of water/broth and Pressure cook on high for 4 minutes. Follow QPR. Open the lid. Separate the noodles with a fork. Add scallions and sesame seeds and toss together with tongs. Serve warm.

      6. These look so good, I can’t wait to make them! By sesame oil, do you mean regular sesame oil (hard to find here) or toasted sesame oil?

      7. What happens if I use regular hoisin sauce? I don’t think I’ve ever seen vegetarian hoisin sauce but I like most people have the regular hoisin. Thank you for the recipe. I’m excited to try it!
